Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum

Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum

Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Here is a big question every Family that is homeschooling children between the ages of 5-6. If your child is too young for official kindergarten, you can teach him for an extra year.

Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Seasonal Theme

What worked wonderfully for my children was to follow a seasonal approach. There is the month of November is usually a good time to make the theme of Thanksgiving. Making your lessons with topics is a favorite way to teach young children.  You can choose a subject such as the color orange and bake a pumpkin pie.

Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Books

There are many books you can read during this time of the year.  We always enjoy going to the library and choose books to support the topics we discuss.  I still get a craft book, so we can get some ideas about projects we can make together.

Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Timeline

We do this over weeks or a month depending on the child and the schedule. The idea is to start getting into a loose rhythm that you can continue to build on over the years. If homeschooling is in the future for your family, then this is an excellent way to get in the groove.  A solid beat will make the transition into the grades seamless. Put your primary foundation into place now. Example: Morning meal and walk. Circle time and story. Then snack and free play. After lunch craft or activity. Outside chance. Meal prep then dinner. After you have the rhythm, you can use the elements of your theme to complement the school day.

Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Outside

Outside free time is a huge part of the kindergarteners day. Try to allow them as much time as possible to roam and dig and play in puddles. Remember that your child's primary job at this time is to Play! They need unscheduled time to get creative in their surroundings and create a deep connection to their world without having to follow a rigorous routine.
